The Gun Issue Is A Masculinity Issue

I feel like I'm going into this already having lost some of you. Are events like these about gun control or mental health? Answer: Sure. But there's still more. What some of us fail to see are the millions of connections that tell us what is wrong with our world. These are not separate issues. The same reason our schools become war zones for angsty, white teenage terrorists is the same reason why Pence wants to electrocute your kids. It is also why we have to rise up on social media with hashtags like #MeToo and #TimesUp. Our boys need help. There, I said it. Maybe you hate the word feminism. You've been lied to at some point. Feminism isn't radical. It isn't crazy. It's simple. Equity. It's the assertion that women, actually, that ALL people are deserving of respect, authority, and compensation that is directly correlated with how much effort they put into life, regardless of gender, sex, or race. How many more times will we have to blog abo...

Radicalized Alt-Right Terrorist Kills 17 People in the 18th School Shooting of 2018

MAGA Supporter and Alt-Right Domestic Terrorist, Nikolas Cruz, shot and killed 17 people this past Wednesday at a Parkland, Florida high school. The 19-year-old who had been expelled from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School for his past violence and disciplinary issues returned to said school with an AR-15, a semi-automatic rifle, and apparently weapon of choice among mass murderers of his kind. The AR-15 was used in almost all of the deadliest mass shootings in the United States, including but not limited to Las Vegas, Aurora, San Bernardino, Orlando/Pulse Nightclub, and Sandy Hook. Investigators believed he pulled the fire alarm in order to draw people out of classrooms before opening fire on students and faculty.  Cruz had been kicked out of two private schools and had been held back twice. His social media presence can only be described as really disturbing and super suspect. Cruz was an avid Donald Trump supporter who posted a variety of gun and violence rela...

Lady Doritos: "Not As Sexist As It Sounds!"

So listen, I know I haven't blogged since December because I'm a lazy sack of sh*t  because I was getting my laptop fixed but who even reads this  but I'm blaaaaaaaccckkkkkkkkkkk   back . Like a Pheonix, I only rise from my ashes during Black History Month. Indra Nooyi, chief executive of PepsiCo, made some high key sexist remarks about the way woman want to enjoy a bag of Doritos on a "Freakonomics Radio" podcast on January 31st. She said, "they don't like to crunch too loudly in public and they don't lick their fingers generously, and they don't like to pour the little broken pieces and the flavor into their mouths." Well, Ms. Nooyi clearly you haven't ever seen a round of sorority recruitment because my sisters would dispell a theory like that in a matter of seconds, #SigmaServesDoritos.  Although PepsiCo, which owns Frito-Lay, the manufacturer of Doritos now denies this, when she was asked if Doritos was planning a mal...

Kylie Jenner is a Culture Vulture, but I Ain’t Mad At It

First off, there are WAY more important things going on like Net Neutrality, the GOP tax reform, the new, new (new) Muslim Ban, and etc. that you all should go read up on, but since you’re already here let’s talk about my least favorite Kardashian, Kylie Jenner. Kylie Cosmetics is set to debut a brand new line of concealers that feature 30 diverse and inclusive shades. They will be released on December 13th along with her bullet lipsticks that I'm not gonna buy. Any one of my family members, college roommates, or best friends will tell you that I LOVE makeup, so I have to admit when I first saw the picture I was impressed. Kylie Jenner still can’t collect my coins because at the end of the day she’s gotten it wrong so many other times. She is the literal definition of a culture vulture, but so is Drake.  As a WOC, I quite simply cannot, but good for her for showing us brown skinned queens some love.  Since the Kardashian/Jenner Klan can’t breathe or ...

Creator of “Hair Nah,” Momo Pixel and Every Black Woman Ever: “DON’T TOUCH MY HAIR!!”

If you’re like me, you’ve probably experienced on more than one occasion a friend or maybe even a complete stranger invade your personal space to touch your hair. If not, you’re probably white and/or the offender. Momo Pixel, creator of the viral game, “Hair Nah,” wanted to educate people on just how frustrating and infuriating this experience is for black women.  I feel like I've had this exact conversation so many times now, yet I still have to bob and weave away from white people that don't understand the physics of a personal bubble. It is why the accuracy of this game is hilarious. Momo Pixel was super tired of people making unwanted advances towards her hair. I'm sure you can relate even if you're not black but a woman that's met our president or any man for that matter. She was trying to explain this experience to her white boss. Her boss trying to imagine what this was like for us "was dodging and ducking. He looked so silly." She then...

Donald Trump v. Lavar Ball v. Marshawn Lynch v. Every Uppity Negro that Challenges Authority

At the beginning of this week, Donald Trump called out a bunch of people by name for no particular real reason. I swear this man is like a drunk 19 year old girl calling out every man that’s ever done her wrong since middle school. There is no one in this world more petty than our 45th President of the United States. Like, I honestly don’t know whether to be terrified or inspired that the same man that holds this country’s nuclear weapon launch codes also has beef with half of Twitter. It took me a couple days but, here I am blogging about it because that’s just the type of year 2017 has been. Again the list of people he tweeted about on Sunday through Monday was kinda long, so for my own your sanity I have to narrow it down. Donald Trump found the time in between whatever it is he actually does in the White House besides ruin the lives of any and every minority in this country to send out those lovely gems. Marshawn Lynch caught some heat from conservative media out...

Gabby Douglas: I WAS ROOTING FOR YOU! WE WERE ALL ROOTING FOR YOU!!

It is with a heavy heart that on this day, November 18th, 2017, I hereby order the official cancellation of Gabby Douglas. Around 5 o’clock on November 17th, Gabby apparently lost her goddamn mind and sent out an ignorant ass tweet in response to her former teammate Aly Raisman’s #MeToo. Aly recently opened up about how she had been sexually assaulted for years by a team doctor. While many praised Aly Raisman for her bravery, her teammate for whatever reason felt the need to throw in her two cents stating via tweet, “it is our responsibility as women to dress modestly and be classy. Dressing in a provocative/sexual way entices the wrong crowd.”    I could scream. I’m not going to go in on what she said. In previous blog posts I’ve made it very clear about what it is exactly I think about women, and just people in general, who choose to place blame on victims. I will say however that Gabby’s statement seems to be a default for just too many people. I shouldn’...
