Former Fox News host, Megyn Kelly, exposed the hell out of Bill O'Reilly this past Monday when her disgraced mentor said that no one had ever complained about his behavior in the workplace. Kelly said she knows for a fact it's not true because she personally had made complaints about his treatment towards women who in the past spoke out against the decades of sexual harassment at FOX News. She had also spoken to network heads about O'Reilly's own sexual harassment history. Also this past week O'Reilly reached a 32 million dollar settlement with just one woman who had gone after him.
Kelly said it gives her "no pleasure" to speak against her former employer, "but this must stop. The abuse of women, the shaming of them, the threatening, the retaliation, the silencing of them after the fact -- it has to stop." I agree with Kelly y'all, what a time to be alive. However, I can be against Megyn Kelly and sexual abuse. Kelly is still a disgusting human being and this is a perfect example of white feminism at work.
You're probably asking yourself what is white feminism? I'm so thrilled you asked. It's a brand of feminism that centralizes around the ideals and struggles of mainly white women. It fails to recognize the hardships of other women of color, women belonging to religious or cultural minorities, homosexual woman, bisexual women, transgendered women, and etc. because of it's obsession with western standards. It plays into their white fragility, which basically means that any minimal type of racial and/or sexist stress is so intolerable it triggers an extremely defensive response. In the same breath, they ignore or undermine those who have experienced similar or more severe situations because they don't look like them.
Exhibit A: Lupita Nyong'o. The actress detailed Harvey Weinstein's predatory behavior towards her during her time at Yale when she was a drama student. Weinstein broke his silence and via representative stated, "Mr. Weinstein has a different recollection of the events." People were quick to question why Harvey Weinstein only felt the need to denounce Nyong'o's account of his sexual advances towards her, stating the obvious racial element. Out of all the many people and celebrities that have spoken out against his abuse, why are we not making a bigger deal about why he's questioning her? White feminism, y'all.
Megyn Kelly is the BIGGEST white feminist in pop culture with the exception of Taylor Swift. This is the same woman who attacked the black teenager who was assaulted by a police officer at a pool party. For those of you who don't remember this case please refer to the video below where this officer grabbed the girl by her braids and threw her to the ground. To make matters worse he also pulled out his gun on a bunch of teenagers when they tried to help their friend. Megyn Kelly said, "the girl was no saint either" because according to Kelly she was "lingering" after the cop had told them to disperse. Kelly also insisted Santa Clause and Jesus are white, said black communities are plagued with a "thug mentality," and victim blamed Sandra Bland for her own death.
