Donna Karen's New Line Inspired by the Handmaid's Tale Debuts this Spring

Recently, Harvey Weinstein has had a slew of sexual harassment and abuse allegations brought against him. The list of women goes back for decades and includes the names of established actresses like Gwyneth Paltrow and Angelina Jolie. In an article written by Ronan Farrow of The New Yorker,  he describes the elaborate coverups that took place at Weinstein’s company by various assistants and executives. This allowed him to operate for so long without any real backlash (for the full story click here). Donna Karen gave some revolting insight as to why Weinstein wasn't really at fault.

When asked about the allegations made against Weinstein, Karen said "to see it here in our own country is very difficult, but I also think how do we display ourselves? How do we present ourselves as women? What are we asking? Are we asking for it by presenting all the sensuality and all the sexuality." Donna Karen is a woman's fashion designer so by this logic I hope to see a line of red cloaks and white caps this spring. All jokes aside, I honestly expected her to be just a tad bit more conscious of the bile that comes out of her mouth. To perpetuate this backward idea that it's a woman's fault when a pig like Harvey Weinstein can't control the barbaric instincts that apparently gave him permission to abuse her is disgusting. That is what we mean by rape culture. Stop blaming victims because the only one at fault is the rapist, molester, pedophile, abuser and etc.

This is where things get a little emotional for me because I can’t stand people, especially women that think like Karen. I’ve gone to church and have been told by women I’m supposed to look up to that I should wear full sleeves at service because my bare shoulders might cause other men to struggle. UMM, WHERE IS THE GOD DAMN ACCOUNTABILITY?! Whether I'm wearing a turtleneck or a tube top that does not give any man the right to objectify me or my body in any way shape or form. The way I look, the way I dress, AND how I choose to express my sexuality is my business. It doesn't take away from the fact that I am a queen and it does not warrant harassment from men. I am not a piece of property or a trophy for any man to collect. My yes means yes and my no means no. If your narrowminded ass can't take that keep it moving because I don't give a damn. That rhetoric only exists to belittle women. Rhetoric like this is terrifying because if something were to ever happen to me I wonder if the police, my friends, or even my own mother would ask me what I wore and if I drank before asking if I was okay. There is no extra step nor precaution myself or any woman can take that could prevent that type of evil.

Gabby Douglas: I WAS ROOTING FOR YOU! WE WERE ALL ROOTING FOR YOU!!

It is with a heavy heart that on this day, November 18th, 2017, I hereby order the official cancellation of Gabby Douglas. Around 5 o’clock on November 17th, Gabby apparently lost her goddamn mind and sent out an ignorant ass tweet in response to her former teammate Aly Raisman’s #MeToo. Aly recently opened up about how she had been sexually assaulted for years by a team doctor. While many praised Aly Raisman for her bravery, her teammate for whatever reason felt the need to throw in her two cents stating via tweet, “it is our responsibility as women to dress modestly and be classy. Dressing in a provocative/sexual way entices the wrong crowd.”    I could scream. I’m not going to go in on what she said. In previous blog posts I’ve made it very clear about what it is exactly I think about women, and just people in general, who choose to place blame on victims. I will say however that Gabby’s statement seems to be a default for just too many people. I shouldn’...

Radicalized Alt-Right Terrorist Kills 17 People in the 18th School Shooting of 2018

MAGA Supporter and Alt-Right Domestic Terrorist, Nikolas Cruz, shot and killed 17 people this past Wednesday at a Parkland, Florida high school. The 19-year-old who had been expelled from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School for his past violence and disciplinary issues returned to said school with an AR-15, a semi-automatic rifle, and apparently weapon of choice among mass murderers of his kind. The AR-15 was used in almost all of the deadliest mass shootings in the United States, including but not limited to Las Vegas, Aurora, San Bernardino, Orlando/Pulse Nightclub, and Sandy Hook. Investigators believed he pulled the fire alarm in order to draw people out of classrooms before opening fire on students and faculty.  Cruz had been kicked out of two private schools and had been held back twice. His social media presence can only be described as really disturbing and super suspect. Cruz was an avid Donald Trump supporter who posted a variety of gun and violence rela...

Kylie Jenner is a Culture Vulture, but I Ain’t Mad At It

First off, there are WAY more important things going on like Net Neutrality, the GOP tax reform, the new, new (new) Muslim Ban, and etc. that you all should go read up on, but since you’re already here let’s talk about my least favorite Kardashian, Kylie Jenner. Kylie Cosmetics is set to debut a brand new line of concealers that feature 30 diverse and inclusive shades. They will be released on December 13th along with her bullet lipsticks that I'm not gonna buy. Any one of my family members, college roommates, or best friends will tell you that I LOVE makeup, so I have to admit when I first saw the picture I was impressed. Kylie Jenner still can’t collect my coins because at the end of the day she’s gotten it wrong so many other times. She is the literal definition of a culture vulture, but so is Drake.  As a WOC, I quite simply cannot, but good for her for showing us brown skinned queens some love.  Since the Kardashian/Jenner Klan can’t breathe or ...
